30 Days of Happiness :: Sick days

Having all three kids home, with all three of them sick, plus a flooded and stinky basement, well, it has certainly been one of the most challenging weeks ever.  But, somewhere in the chaos I got a glimpse of this and ran for the camera.  

It was so nice to have her home.  Although she is in LOVE with kindergarten, I miss having Sizzles around.  She is bright and funny (and sassy at times).  She is so thoughtful and loving to a new sibling.  

THIS is what I have to remember when the insanity of so many little ones hits a fevered pitch around here.

30 Days of Happiness :: Knitting

Knitting has slowly returned around here, after a long hiatus, following the race to complete Porkchop's blanket in time for his arrival.  

Of course, on some days only one stitch is completed, or I only have time to add a crochet edge to a piece, so a botched hat from last year actually fits like a hat instead of a beanie.

 Other days, Sticky-Butt has "helped me" and unraveled large chunks of work.

  

Nevertheless, knitting is back and I am grateful.

30 Days of Happiness :: Humor at six weeks postpartum

You know you are the mother of three under five when:

• you drink a ton of water before your doctor's appointment just so you can use the bathroom without anyone crying, or knocking at the door asking for a snack 
• your idea of time management is coffee and a tamale for lunch 
• you now view a glass of wine as 'self-medicating' 
• sleep is the new sex
• when asked by the midwife what birth control you are using, you point to the children reminding her that intimacy requires privacy 
• your two year old thinks the new baby's name is 'howler monkey' 
• your daughter shows up to picture day in the same dress she slept in  
• you think these shoes are awesome and wish you had a pair 
•  
• despite all this, you still have your sense of humor and find something to laugh about each and every day

30 Days of Happiness :: Hopscotch

 

Sizzles stayed home from kindergarten yesterday because of a stomach-ache.  Thankfully, it dissipated by lunchtime and we were able to enjoy the day together.  The air was cool and wet, so we spent some time on the driveway using sidewalk chalk.  Sizzles quickly put together a hopscotch board and proceeded to give Sticky-Butt a lesson on how to play. I sat in a lawn chair and fed Porkchop, watching their pink and orange crocs flash through the air as they moved from one to ten.   

Time well spent.
