There is a middle child who loves that her big sister is home all day for the holiday break. But, she is missing the regular rhythm just a little bit also.
It is hard to get her sister to follow the rules to the games she dreams up. It is hard to turn for a much needed cuddle in Mommy's lap, and see that is it currently occupied. It is especially hard missing our daily "Tiger Walks." So yesterday her and I ventured out, and had one.
It brought us joy.
::A few important facts about Tiger Walks::
- There is a little brother in a stroller and more recently toddling alongside us
- There is a four year old running ahead and calling out obstacles
- There is a mean Tiger who lurks and tries to capture us
- A purple key locks him in a cage
- There is a moment where he always escapes
- Then, a river that we swim across
- A tree that has lost its leaves
- A butterfly forest
- A spell that makes her too tired to walk
- And buttercups filled with fairy water to drink and restore her
- Finally, sourgum lanterns that light the way around the bend and home
There are variations of course, (frozen ice, snow traps, wind storms, tricks and traps) but those listed above are the key elements to having a successful Tiger Walk.
I highly recommend them.
